Semesterticket-
Refund
The semester ticket is charged on a solidarity basis, which is why it must always be paid for when re-registering. This is what makes it so affordable. Unfortunately, it is not possible to be exempted from paying the semester fee. There are various reasons that entitle you to apply for a refund of the mobility fee. Non-use is not one of them. The following is a list of possible reasons for a refund according to the social regulations.
IMPORTANT: Please note the relevant deadlines for submitting your application! Please note that your supporting documents must be submitted within these deadlines!

Reasons for reimbursement
A refund of the mobility allowance is possible on a monthly basis for study-related stays abroad if the stay exceeds half of the days in the month.
Study-related means, for example, a mandatory internship, a practical semester abroad, or external theses. Voluntary internships or regular employment do not count!
The application deadline is the 15th of the month preceding the month for which reimbursement is requested. For example, if you want to apply for reimbursement starting in April, the application must be submitted by March 15.
When a refund is issued, the ticket will be deactivated for the relevant months! After the refunded period, the ticket will be reactivated automatically—no action is required on your part.
For each eligible and blocked month, we will reimburse you 1/6 of the mobility contribution you have paid.
In the case of late enrollment during the current semester, a partial refund of the mobility contribution can be requested for the full months in the semester in which you were not enrolled. For example, if you enrolled late, the ticket can only be partially refunded if your enrollment begins on or after April 1 or October 1.
The application deadline is one day after the end of the semester for which reimbursement is requested. In the winter semester, this is March 1, and in the summer semester, it is September 1.
For each eligible month, we will reimburse you for 1/6 of the mobility contribution you have paid.
If you have a disability, e.g., with the G token in your severely disabled person's pass, or if you have a disability or chronic illness that prevents you from using public transport, you can apply for a refund.

If you are also enrolled at another university in Germany and already have a Germany Semester Ticket there, you can request a refund from us. The ticket will be deactivated until the end of the semester after the refund!

If you are experiencing financial hardship, you can apply for a refund. Examples of financial hardship include a broken washing machine or unexpected termination of employment.
The matter will be dealt with by the Social Affairs Committee of the Student Parliament.
In your application, you must provide proof of your financial situation, in particular your income. The required documents will be specified in detail during the application process.
As part of the reimbursement, students can also register for the student union's “Freitisch” program. This includes one free meal per day at all participating cafeterias, with a choice between a plate meal, a vegetarian dish, and the classic meal.
